There are 102 different kinds of snakes in Sri Lanka. There are a few snake farms spread out over the island, most of which focus on rehabilitation with the goal of eventually releasing the snakes; however, some also provide educational displays. Our camp at Weligama<\/a> is fifteen minutes from the Snake Farm in Telijjawila<\/a>. Locals with indigenous expertise own the snake farm. Visitors can engage with both poisonous and non-venomous snakes on the farm. This rehabilitation facility’s primary objective is to keep the snakes from going extinct by caring for the injured ones before reintroducing them to the wild. Rat snakes, pythons, vipers, and cobras are among the snakes kept at the snake farm.
