Sri Lanka is the surf destination that should be on your radar, right now! Visit stunning landscapes, diverse – mixed influenced – architecture, plentiful natural green environments and wildlife, and the best surf spots in Sri Lanka.

Surfing is the reason to visit us on this island off the south coast of India. The beaches and deep-blue waves should be appreciated: surfing is the way, and we are here to get you in the water!
Kima Surf camps are outstanding for people trying surfing for the first time, surfers that want to improve their skills, and for dedicated surfers searching for the best waves around the world. Sri Lanka has the beautiful beaches that can be surfed throughout the year. Get that surfboard waxed and join us to surf in Sri Lanka.

Sandy Village (Weligama) is where we have based your camp in Sri Lanka. It is the best place for beginner surfers in the country. The town has great energy which will inspire you surf your heart out. The main beach has its own surf break, and smaller beaches around the large bay provide their own unique waves, these we’ll talk to you about and get you in the right location according to your skill level. Conditions are best here between October and April – this part of Sri Lanka gets 330 days of sunshine a year.

The best beginner surf beaches Sri Lanka offers are found towards the southern end of the island. In the south you will find waves to suit all surfing skill levels. The northern oceanfront is more protected from the deep ocean swells from India. The ocean serves up excellent waves for your Sri Lanka surf trip, from casual beach breaks and long point break walls to punchy beach break peaks.

The most fun and real value with Sri Lanka surf holidays is that as you progress and develop throughout your trip, you can challenge yourself by stepping up to Sri Lanka surf spots that pack a bit more power, pushing you onwards with your journey to the next level of surfing.

Weligama + Surfing Areas

Weligama’s idyllic beach breaks offer consistent and perfect waves for surfers of many abilities. From first time learner surfers to surfers that are starting to catch their own waves! When we have a little more swell at the beach – beginner / intermediate surfers are going to love surfing at Fishermans Bay, a short Tuk Tuk ride away from the camp.

Intermediate / Advanced Kima surfers will have access to numerous breaks nearby the camp like the local beach of our Head Coach from Mirissa. We will use our local knowledge and Tuk-Tuk transport to find the best waves daily for your skill levels. Kima’s local knowledge and surf camp experience will get you in the best surf spots of the day based on the key surfing ingredients of swell, tide, wind and weather conditions.

You will be given access to sign up for 2 surf sessions daily once you are in the camp and choose which surf spots of the day you’d like. Kima operates a morning and afternoon session for surfing with plenty down time to eat, chill and prepare between your sessions.

Our experienced guides will always be happy to assist you to choose the best spot for your level if you’re having a hard time deciding!
