Want to know what to expect? Let’s dive into the ultimate surf camp itinerary with Kima Surf, Sri Lanka.

Day  one

Start off your surf trip on day one with a morning surf! Wake up, grab a quick coffee and banana or have your full three-course breakfast to fuel you for your surf session and then head to the van with your board! You can choose to join our 1-6 star sessions or if you are new to surfing you can do our 5-day Learn To Surf Course. The 5-day Learn To Surf Course has a set itinerary with specific goals for each day, whereas the 1- 6 star sessions are set in different surf spots each day and depend on your level of surf.

If you join our 1 – 6 star surf session, you’ll jump in the van and head to one of the surf spots chosen by your experienced surf guides. Head to a popular spot like Weligama Beach where you’ll catch long waves left and right, perfect for simply practising your pop-up or manoeuvres on the wave.

You’ll arrive back to camp mid-morning, where you can relax and have your breakfast before joining a pool session. Our pool sessions happen multiple times a week and this is where you can learn essential skills like popping up, turning your board and finding your balance in a controlled environment.

Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing, grabbing a bite to eat at our restaurant or chilling in the pool. In the evenings, join one of our camp family dinners where we gather together around our communal tables and have a BBQ dinner. Your first day will be filled with activity and new people, setting the tone for the rest of the week!

Day  two

Start your second day aligned with the classic Sri Lanka lifestyle with another morning surf, followed by an afternoon surf to make the most of your Kima package! If conditions allow, you may find yourself at a reef break like Fisherman’s or Hiriketiya Bay. Before every session your surf guides will ensure to brief you on the spot and run through a good warm up so you are completely ready for your surf session.

When you arrive back to camp after two surf sessions, we’re sure that you will be a little stiff. Take the evening to relax and join one of the yoga sessions that is included in your stay. Join our afternoon yoga session in our yoga shala where a trained instructor will guide you through a rejuvenating session.

We have a range of nightly activities like nights out, beach sunsets, quiz nights and so on. Weligama is known for having quite a vibrant nightlife so join us for a party or if you’re in Hiriketiya, join us for a sunset or social activity in camp.

Day  three

For day three, you can try and jump on a day trip, which takes you to a spot a little bit further away from camp, where you’ll do two sessions in one spot. This gives you the opportunity to try some local food for lunch and enjoy everyone’s company in a beautiful setting.

Come back from your surf sessions for a video analysis with our experienced surf guides. Here you’ll gather with the other surfers to watch your videos together and get valuable feedback about how you can improve. If you want to learn even more, head to one of our theory classrooms, where you’ll learn about topics like surf etiquette, how to read the waves and the forecast.
